Looking
for a fun, enrichment experience for your daughter this summer that’s in your
own back yard and won’t put a dent in your pocketbook?
Girl
Scouts, the world’s leading authority on girls, is offering day and overnight camps,
as well as other summer programming throughout the state. Now is the time to
sign your daughter up for summer camp and other summer Girl Scout programs. You
do not have to be enrolled in Girl Scouts to attend – it is open to all girls six
years and older.
Girl
Scouts of Colorado owns and operates four summer overnight camp facilities
along the Front Range – Magic Sky Ranch (near Red Feather Lakes, Larimer
County), Meadow Mountain Ranch (near Estes Park, Boulder County), Sky High Ranch
(Woodland Park, Teller County) and Tomahawk Ranch (near Bailey, Park County) –
and offers day camp and other summer programs in many communities throughout the
state for all girls to enjoy.
Whether
you are a first-time camper looking for your first camping adventure or are an
experienced camper ready for a rustic adventure, Girl Scouts has a camp that’s
right for you. At overnight camp, girls can horseback ride, backpack, canoe and
enjoy time in the great outdoors. At day camp, experience the arts or science,
learn more about healthy living or try water sports, robotics, sewing, jewelry
making, acting or high adventure. Other summer programming is also available.
Girl
Scouts offers a safe, supervised, positive, all-girl environment where girls
can discover the fun, friendship and power of girls together. Programs are
designed to help girls achieve their personal leadership potential by
developing courage, confidence and character. Girl Scout summer programs are
affordable, costing an average of roughly $100 a week for day programming ($20/day)
or roughly $300 a week for an overnight program ($60/day), which is significantly
less than most other area summer programs (financial assistance is also
available). If your daughter is not presently a member of Girl Scouts, there is
an extra $10 registration fee, so she will be a Girl Scout when she attends
camp or the summer program of her choosing.
Girl
Scouts of Colorado is where girls throughout the state gain courage, confidence
and character alongside a group of girls who will be their friends for life.
It’s a safe place for girls to explore their world, develop an understanding
and empathy for others and take action to make the world a better place. Girls
are guided by committed, caring adults who make learning fun. No other activity
helps each girl achieve her personal leadership pathway like Girl Scouting.
Girl Scouts has been the nation’s leading expert on girls for nearly 100 years.
The
council is also looking for volunteers and paid staff to help bring smiles to
the faces of girls this summer. A reduced fee may be available to you for
volunteering. There are even programs available during the day for younger
children (including boys) in your family when you volunteer. Whether you want
to be in the thick of things or are happier taking a “helping” role, there’s a
perfect place for you. Come have a summer of fun with Girl Scouts!
